Kuwait has introduced a redesigned tourist visa framework divided into four categories, offering travelers more tailored and flexible entry options. The move aims to attract a wider range of tourists, business professionals, and expatriate families by aligning visa eligibility with passport strength, qualifications, and travel history.

One of the most notable updates is the visa-on-arrival provision for residents of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. To qualify, applicants must hold a valid GCC residency permit with at least six months remaining and a valid passport. This step is expected to significantly streamline regional travel.

The restructured system also provides longer stay options, allowing visitors to remain in the country for up to three months, with the possibility of extending their visit to six months or even a year upon payment of additional fees.

Other key reforms include:

Removal of the university degree requirement for certain visa categories, enabling more expatriate family members and applicants from less privileged nations to qualify.
